Forty of Wakefield Country Day School’s 6th-9th grade students, accompanied by five teachers, will leave this week for an eight day educational trip to France.
The group will fly from New York to Paris April 8, via Air France where they will be lodged at a secondary boarding school, the Lycee Saint Louis, which is located in the Latin Quarter just opposite the Sorbonne.
In addition to the sights of Paris, the group will make day excursions to the former palace of the French kings at Versailles, to the Chateau de Chambord near Blois in the Loire River Valley, to the famous Xlllth Century cathedral at Chartres, and to Rambouillet, the country home of the French presidents where they will have the opportunity of meeting with President Valery Giscard-d’Estaing.
Of special interest to the Wakefield group will be an attendance at La Comedie Francaise where they will see a performance of Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme. Last spring Wakefield students themselves presented this musical comedy by Miliere.
