prices if we have a good hay making season next year?

I am all in favor of this renewed interest in Alfalfa but I believe farmers should be aware of the problems associated with producing this crop as well as the advantages. We still have insect, winter weed and management problems. Sometimes there is difficulty in establishing a stand following corn where a large amount of chemical week killers have been used.

If large yields and a long lived stand are to be obtained, Alfalfa should be planted on a deep well drained soil. Roots must be able to penetrate 3 to 6 feet deep. Lime and fertilizer must be applied on time and in the amount required. It takes above average management to make Alfalfa pay.
