a special grant from the French Ministries of Education and Culture. All students at Wakefield study French, and the purpose of the trip, according to the school’s Administrator William Lynn, is to further their interest in the language and culture of France.
Beauty Pageant

The Sperryville Rescue Squad will be sponsoring a Miss Rappahannock Beauty Pageant on April 21 at Rappahannock County Elementary School. Rehearsal for the pageant will be Wednesday evening, April 19, from 7:30 until 9:30 p.m. in the elementary school. The entry fee of $6.00 must be accompanied with a sponsor. Anyone wishing to participate may contact Mrs. Cecil Baldwin at 987-8240 or Julian Brown, 987-8758.
FireRescue
Miss Addie Boyd was taken from her home in Flint Hill to the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville on March 29 by the Flint Hill Rescue Squad. On March 30, this unit carried Miss Lucy Estes from her home near Washington to Warren Memorial Hospital and back and the Flint Hill Fire Dept, was called to a brush fire on Rt. 635 and 726 that turned out to be controlled burning by VEPCO.
On April 2, the Sperryville Rescue Squad transported Mrs. Nellie Sisk from H & J Grocery on Rt. 231 to Culpeper Memorial Hospital. The Flint Hill Rescue Squad took Thomas Printz from his home near Flint Hill to Warren Memorial Hospital on April 3 and Andrew Lewis from his home near Flint Hill to the same hospital on April 4.
