Stokes also suggested that school principals encourage teachers to take an active role in the community with the superintendent to work on developing a positive attitude front the public towards the school system. According to Stokes, teachers and students should both follow a “strict moral code of ethics” and teachers need to understand that attributes unbecoming an educator will not be tolerated.
School Board member Walter Masterson proposed that school-community relations be improved by having teachers make home visits. Masterson also called for more attention directed towards reading curriculum and more aid to new and inexperienced teachers and administrators.
