Two Firms
Central Telephone & Utilities Corporation, the parent company of Central Telephone of Virginia, has acquired two communications-related firms in Illinois.
The new subsidiaries are Acoustics Development Corporation, a company specializing in telephone booth manufacturing and marketing, and Consolidated Cable Utilities, Inc., which provides cable TV programming to several communities west of Chicago.
Central Telephone & Utilities’ purchase of the two firms will “broaden CTU’s future in the total communications field and enhance investment opportunities for our shareholders,” said P ibert P. Reuss, chairman anJ chief executive offices. "These are growth business based on technologies with which we already are familiar and share marketing, engineering and technical expertise.”
Financial details of the transactions, which are subject to regulatory approvals, were not released. However, the company indicated that about 450,000 shares of its stock would be issued in the transactions.
