RICHMOND—Former Navy Secretary John W. Warner vowed to build on the legacy of Richard D. Obenshain Saturday as he accepted the uncontested Republican nomination to the United States Senate.
A resident of Fauquier County, Warner ran a close second behind Obenshain at the Republican State Convention last June, then joined forces with his former rival by serving as an honorary statewide cochairman of the Obenshain campaign.
That campaign was cut short earlier this month when Obenshain was killed in a plane crash in Chesterfield County.
