“If this proposal became law," the lawmaker from Winchester explained, "the federal government would have no authority to acquire any additional land for the park through purchase, or trade, or in any other manner, except as might be permitted through a subsequent act of Congress. It would mean the National Park Service would have to justify any future plan to expand the park before Congress, and gain its consent, "My bill’s enactment would help to ease the understandable concern of folks living in the park's vicinity that their property might one day be taken to expand this park. 1 hope for hearings on this measure at the earlier possible time."

In response to the tree survey taken, the Rappahannock Extension Office is taking orders for nursery stock pink and white dogwoods and redbuds. Pink dogwood, 24 to 30 inches are $4.00. White dogwood. 24 to 30 inches are $2.50. Redbud. 12 to 18 inches, are $1.00. All orders must be accompanied with a check made payable to Rappahannock 4-H and sent to the Rappahannock Extension Office. P.O. Box 98, Washington, Virginia 22747 on or before February 23rd.
