after a couple of songs. Another group gathered in the hall with Cathy Lowe and her guitar. We started out with current hits but it’s hard to sing along with disco. After trying folk songs, we switched to rock ‘n’ roll oldie goldies from the fifties and sixties. We lost the kids. “Chantilly Lace,” "Teen Angel,” and “Wake Up Little Suzie” moved them not at all.
At 11 p.m., lights went out and the girls went to their rooms but not to sleep. Chaperones sat guard in the hall until 3 a.m. when the last whispers died away before they, too, hit the sack. My last waking though was "Williamsburg is made for walking and these feet aren’t.”
