(Continued from Page 1) the line is completed. Before wires are strung, all bolts are again tightened with a 24inch wrench. After the power lines are up, “nothing will take one of those towers over,” said Carmack, noting that the lines themselves would hold the towers erect.

He knew of only one other instance in which a power line tower had fallen. The incident, Carmack said, occured 12 to 14 years ago in Churchland when a gust of wind hit just as the construction crew was getting ready to put the bolts on the legs. “They had to just stand there and watch that tower fall,” Carmack recalled.
