will receive chair stretchers, portable and built-in oxygen systems, portable and built-in suction devices, orthopedic stretchers and splints. The HEW grant will cover 75 per cent of the costs for both the communication system and emergency equipment. Local squads will be responsible for the remaining 25 per cent cash match. The squads, however, will receive the benefits of a training equipment bank at no cost to the local units. Approximatley $30,000 from the HEW grant will be used to purchase mannequins, films and other educational equipment to be used by emergency care instructors. The equipment will be stored at Culpeper and Fauquier hospitals and checked out by instructors for classes. Time donated by physicians at the two hospitals will cover the 25 per cent local share of the costs.
According to Rosson, Rappahannock County will particularly benefit from the training equipment bank since squads here have encountered problems in obtaining instructional equipment for emergency medical classes.
Rosson emphasized that the grant money can be used only to provide services above and beyond the squads’ normal operating budgets and will in no way substitute for the public donations needed to continue standard day-to-day operations. “The squads are making a gallant effort to upgrade their training and equipment," said Rosson. “The more , training and equipment , they * have, the more lives they have the potential to save.”

The Rappahannock Farmers Market now has a complete line of fresh fruits and vegetables available. Corn and tomatoes are the latest to appear, with blackberries and peaches still plentiful.
Led by vice-president, Ellen Taylor of the Virginia Council of Senior Citizens, delegates of Urbanettes of Arlington County patronized the market last Saturday. They were well pleased, will return and bring others.
