Dee Dee Grant and Susai Dennis shared the fun with 4 H’ers from 12 other countie as representatives of Rap pahannock at the Performini Arts Holiday Show held a Fauquier’s Cedar Lee Junio High School last weekend.
Some fifty youngster began working at 2 p.m Friday. Starting from scratcl with boundless energy ant talent, the kids put together ; sljow with professiona polish—all in time for thi curtain’s rise at 3 p.m Sunday.
They learned songs routines, dances, how t< build sets, set up sound, worl with stage lights and make up in just 24 hours.
“It was quite amazing You’d almost have to see it t really believe it,” reportei Emmet White, one of th spectators from Rap pahannock. “Those kids wer more or less a self-governinj body. With a little adul guidance, they chose fron their own talent what the; wanted in the show, decide< on costumes, even arrangec choreography."
According to White Sunday’s end result was ver; professional. “They really go some moxie into what the; were doing...We wen thrilled by the amount o talent, the expertise, th< interest level.”
Dee Dee and Susan arrivec at Cedar Lee at 2 p.m. or Friday. The first session was devoted to learning group routines and acts. “Wt worked them up to perfection,” Dee Dee said.
When a halt was called al 10 p.m., the visitors went home to stay with host families — parents ol Fauquier’s Young Dominion or folks just interested in kids. The next morning, rehearsals began at 9 with the youngsters concentrating on solo spots and choreography. They zipped through a trial run of the shpw before quitting at 10 p.m. to return to their host families. It was back to Cedar Lee at 9 the next morning for devotions, then a dress rehearsal, lunch and an hour
