Rock-A-Thon
On November 16 and 17, the Piedmont Chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America will sponsor the fourth annual March of Dimes Rock-A-Thon at the Food Services Department of Piedmont Technical Education Center from 5 p.m. Friday until 5 p.m. Saturday. The FBLA urges people to come on out and support a rocker or send donations to Piedmont Technical Education Center, Box 855, Culpeper, Va. 22701. Donations should be labeled “March of Dimes Rock-AThon.”
Anyone interested in rocking may call Mrs. Frieda Matheny at 825-0476 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily. Money raised through the Rock-A-Thon will be used by March of Dimes to fight birth defects.
Civil War
Round Table
Rappahannock history buffs are invited to attend the Shenandoah Valley Civil War Round Table on Thursday, November 15, at 7:30 p.m. in Harrisonburg.
The program will feature an illustrated discussion of the Gettysburg Campaign of July, 1863. Army movements, military problems, leadership, and battle details will be described using color slides and maps. Ben Cunningham, a local Civil War enthusiast, will lead the discussion.
The meeting will be held in the Electric Commission Building, 89 Bruce Street, Harrisonburg. For fruther information, call 984-4771.
Amissville
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Poling entertained Sunday with a party for Mr. Poling’s mother, Mrs. Laura Poling of Alexandria in honor of her 86th birthday. Guests included Mrs. Robert Spangler, Cynthia and Stacey of Baltimore, Md., Mrs. Richard Graham, Ritchie, Terry and Larry of Bristow and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Taylor of Sperryville.
Guests for the weekend of Mrs. Sarah Latham were Sally Mann and Vincent Nicholson of McLean. Saturday evening Mrs. Latham and house guests joined by Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Payne and Mrs. Elizabeth Streagle, Shannon and Marc had dinner at Graves Mountain Lodge.
Miss Phoebe Green and Mrs. Mitchell Green were in Leesburg Friday to visit Mrs. Odessa Ficklin in the Health Care Center.
Clark Harrison, a student at the University of Virginia, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Doyle. The Doyles were dinner guests last night of Miss Louise Anderson in Culpeper where they were joined by Mrs. T. W. Armstrong and Dr. and Mrs. Rupert Quaintance.
Mrs. James Smith of Chevy Chase, Md. is spending this week with her mother, Mrs. T. W. Latham.
Miss Kay Lawrence spent the weekend in Bluefield where she attended homecoming at Bluefield College.
Mrs. F. L. Bowey is a patient in Fauquier Hospital.
