8.4 Drug Education, Abuse and Discovery
The School Board, recognizing the need for clearly defined procedures as a necessary tool for school personnel, adopts the following policies relating to drug education, drug abuse, and the "discovery of drugs and other dangerous materials in schools.
8.41 Drug Abuse Education
A comprehensive drug education program, utilizing State Department and local curriculum guides, willl be developed and implerr\ented in all grade levels.
The Director of Instruction will be responsible for the selection of appropriate materials and curricular offerings for the various grade levels and subject areas.
Principals, supervisors and instructional personnel, as well as representatives of the student community and the community at large, will be called upon to assist in the development of curricula.
8.42 Responsibility of School Personnel
The principal and faculty of each school will be responsible for implementing these policies within their particular school. Guidelines which spell out the roles of individual staff members follow the policy statements.
8.43 Possession, Sale or Distribution of Illegal Drugs
If the principal or his designated representative has reason to believe that any individual is involved in possession, sale or distribution of drug substances on school grounds, on a school bus, or at school-sponsored functions, law enforcement officials shall be notified and asked to investigate. School personnel may engage in further investigative steps, such as questioning, search of persons, or confiscation of
