The Rappahannock varsity Panthers were outclassed by the Strasburg Rams last Friday. 68-48. To make a bad night even worse, the county cagers lost the services of two starters, forcing coach Jim Logan to move talented freshman Mike Leake up from the junior varsity. Mike is expected to join his brother Gary on the starting five this Friday.
Rappahannock took an early lead in the January 11 away contest when Gary Leake followed the opening buzzer with a fast basket. It was the last time the Panthers were ahead through the long night. TJie Rams came back and within two minutes led 6-2. Strasburg never stopped and at the end of the quarter, the Panthers trailed 18-9.
