Resurfacing
Bids Open
Contractors have been asked by the State Depart ment of Highways and Transportation to offer bids on February 5 for resurfacing of secondary roads, light-djuty primary highways, and shoulders of some interstate highways.
About 17.5 million gallons of bituminous material and 612.000 tons of cover stone will be required.
The work, tb be done this spring and summer, includes resurfacing more than 5,100 miles of roads. Mileage totals by district include: Bristol. 597; Salem, 654; Lynchburg. 815; Richmond, 789; Suffolk, 635; Fredericksburg, 565; r Culpeper. 573, and Staunton, 507.
Additional bids for resurfacing other highways will be received in March.
Games Reset
The varsity and junior varsity games between Rappahannock and Stonewall Jackson originally scheduled for January 4 and cancelled because of snow will be played Monday, January 21, at home.
The contest with Luray set for Tuesday, January 22, will be held on Wednesday, January 23, due to a conflict with Luray’s exam schedule.
