Rappahannock scored first in the second quarter but only after two cold minutes had elapsed. For half the period, the Panthers put up a strong defense and pulled to within three, 17-20. But with a little over four minutes left, Strasburg came alive and moved in front by 32-24 at half time.
The Rams poured it on all through the third quarter and led 40-29 at the end of the period.
Rappahannock scored first in the fourth quarter when Dean Wilson drew the Panthers to within nine. Then the Rams got really serious and scored every time down the court for almost two minutes. Strasburg forced the Panthers to turn the ball over four times in a row and scored every time, putting ten points on the scoreboard before Rappahannock knew what happened.
Coach Logan was called for a technical foul, giving the Rams the chance for another point. Logan earned another “T” before the night was over. Rappahannock got a little lucky, though, when the Rams connected on only one out of three possible charity technicals. The Panther nightmare wasn’t over even with the Rams ahead by 20.
