Residents of Sperryville may learn soon where the Thornton River’s flood plain begins and ends in their village.
At last Wednesday’s meeting, the Rappahannock planning commissioners voted unanimously to recommend to the supervisors that the county engineer officially delineate Sperryville’s flood plain on the county zoning maps.
The suggestion came on the heels of the second report in ope week of difficulties with getting local authorities to take a stand on the location of flood plain.
“Mr. Smith can’t put in a septic field until someone tells him exactly where the flood plain is,” Sperryville attorney Bill Fletcher told the commission at last week's meeting.
According to Fletcher, his clients, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur I. 'Smith, own the old Farmers Co-op in Sperryville and plan either to add bathrooms
