Place this hot pumpkin in a large bowl and add 1 cup each of light brown and white sugar, 2 T. molasses, 3 tsp. each ground cinnamon and ginger, 1 tsp. salt and % tsp. cloves. Stir until sugar is dissolved and spices are mixed in well. Add 4 large eggs that have been slightly beaten and stir until smooth. Finally, blend in 3 cups scalded milk.

Turn into two 9-inch pans lined with unbaked crust. Bake at 450 for ten minutes; lower heat to 350 and bake 30 minutes longer. Space pecan halves on surface of pies, return to heat, and bake another 10 munites. Serve with sweetened whipped cream that has been flavored with vanilla.

Your child can make mulled cider by himself if you have a large slow-cooker. ■ Have him pour a gallon^of cider into the pot, add a few cloves or cardamom seeds, a few sticks of cinnamon and turn the pot to high. Lemon slices studded with cloves give this mulled cider a festive look.
