A six-year critical improvement program which would require an average of $283 million a year in additional funds for Virginia’s road and public transportation systems was recommended Thursday by the State Highway and Transportation Commission.
Proposed by the Department of Highways and Transportation, the program would begin next July 1, if sufficient funding is provided.
Out of 90 projects listed in urban, primary and interstate construction programs as effected by the six-year critical improvement plan, none are in Rappahannock. The county will receive additional money for its secondary system, however, if the critical improvement plan is funded by the General Assembly.
According to summaries supplied by the highway department, Rappahannock can expect to receive $168,737 in 1982-83 and $68,676 in 1983-84 based on current revenues.
