Dog Fund Ended
After a short public hearing, the supervisors voted unanimously to abolish the dog fund, revenue from dog license tags that was used to pay claims from farmers for livestock killed by strays.
Donald Fridenstine was the only speaker opposed to the move. He said he'd lost two calves to dogs and so had put out bear traps, catching five strays. "There are so many strays in this county, you couldn't count them! There are hardly any sheep raised here anymore because vou can't raise sheep and stray dogs at the same time... "They run calves at night, kill them and eat them because they're hungry.''
