Sharon Kilpatrick contended that, according to law, implementation of the 100 percent fair market values cannot be delayed for another year. She noted that many people question whether the old discounted assessments were fair, adding that she believed the Equalization Board, in adjusting the new appraisals, thought it was acting fairly. While she acknowledged that inequalities may exist with the new values, she maintained that the 100 percent market value figures are fairer than the former discounted assessments. "Anytime you reassess, some people's bills go up more than others.”
Public Hearing Request
Helen Kilby suggested a public hearing to “iron out discrepancies and grossly, grossly unfair assessments."
