Jessup. One has been charged with setting a single fire and the other with setting three fires and turning in two false alarms. More charges on false alarms will be brought, the investigator reported.
County forester Tippy Jenkins began an investigation into the possibility of arson after the first fire broke out on Route b42 near View tow n on March 29. He was joined initially by Rappahannock deputies John Henry Woodward and John Godlewski and later by Jessup who did the actual interrogation of suspects.
Jessup reported that all the fires allegedly set by the volunteer firemen were field or forest tires. None involved dwellings or other structures.
