Boosters will sponsor a getacquainted sock hop in the high school gym from 7:30 to II p.m. In compliance with directions from the RCHS administration, only eighth, ninth and tenth graders will he admitted to the dance.
According to organizer Nancy Schoppet, the “Back to School Boogie" will be a simple affair, modeled after the highly successful afterschool dances held last year at the elementary school. Booster member Will Brown will serve as deejay and (he club will provide baked goods, popcorn and sodas for sale. Admission will be SI.
“It will give the kids an opportunity to dance and socialize. It’s hard out here in the country for them to see each other. They can't even talk on the telephone because most of the time, it's long distance," Schoppet said. "With the dance, the kids will have a good time and we'll make some money to buy things for the school," she said, adding that the Boosters hope to be able to sponsor more social activities like the "Back to School Boogie."
