Brown has been active in community service in his native Culpeper County as both a rescue squadsman and volunteer fireman. The new deputy, a 1979 graduate of Culpeper County High School, will begin eight weeks of training at the Shenandoah Police Academy in Waynesboro in October. Currently, he’s looking for a small house to rent in Rappahannock with the only hard and fast requirement being that it have plenty of room for his dog. Brown is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Baldwin S. Brown of Culpeper.
