Centennial Celebration
The Washington Baptist Church will celebrate its 100 year anniversary this Sunday. September 12. Former members and pastors will be coming back to share in this historic celebration. The worship service begins at 11 a.m. and will be followed by dinner on the grounds. The community is invited to share in this day of remembering and thanksgiving.
Garden Club Tour Set
Gardening and history buff's are invited to join the Rappahannock County Garden Club's tour of the birthplaces of George Washington and Robert t. Lee scheduled for Wednesday, September 15. Evangelist To Preach
Rev. J. E. Winstead of Front Royal, a minister of the Gospel for more than 50 years, will be preaching nightly at the Sperryvi(le Assembly Of God Church from September 15 through September 26 (except for Monday. September 20).
Services conducted by the veteran minister, who has served in the pastoral field as well as the evangelistic, will begin at 7 p.m. each evening. Pastor Ray Campbell invites the public to hear Rev. Winstead preach the old fashioned Gospel.
Series On Civilization
Lord Kenneth Clark’s widely acclaimed series. Civilization, will be presented in the old Washington school auditorium, beginning Saturday. September 18, at 8 p.m.
The 13-episode series, shown previously on the public broadcasting system, will be introduced by Dr. Joseph P. Williman. professor of literature at Catholic University.
Settle Reunion Planned
The Settle family reunion will be held Saturday. September 18. at the Recreation Center Park on Route • 211 across the highway from the town of Washington.
Evervone is asked to bring a covered dish for the reunion which begins at 11 a.m.
Guest Speaker
John Dwyer, assistant superintendent of Madison County will be guest speaker at the 11 a.m. services at Rock Villa Mission in Sperryville on Sunday. September 12.
