Chappell noted that all students, not just those interested in a career in data processing, will need to be familiar with and able to use computers.
Personal Typing
Chappell also explained that there was a need for a typing course for students not interested in the subject its part of their career plans, but for college and daily use. He proposed an 18-week course for 12th graders, focusing on term paper format as well as keyboard technique. This is another course, said Chappell, that may be eliminated for lack of student interest.
Psychology
An 18-week course in Psychology was proposed, replacing Economics which would in turn be included for all students within the U.S. Government curriculum. Chappell said that this course will be a more attractive academic gifted-talented course offering and serve as an introduction for students desiring to go on in the social science's.
