Professional appraisers from Sloane and Co. will be at the Sperryville Flea Market on July 23 and 24 from one to four in the afternoon.
Jim Thomasson, who has arranged this benefit event, said that the cost of $3 per item will cover a bonafide appraisal. Thomassen said that this appraisal doesn’t cover historical research and documentation, just the appraiser’s best judgement on what an item is worth.
“This is especially helpful to those who are about to put some items at auction or offer them to an antique dealer,” Thomasson said. “It’s meant to give the owner a relative sense of the item’s value.”
