In other business, Estabrook offered an update on construction of the new bus shop and school board office.
What the administration is waiting for now are the windows. Estabrook reported that he has been “assured that the windows are in transit” and added that he hopes they will arrive next week. Estabrook said three offices will be carpeted once the windows are installed. Otherwise, everything is ready for the move from the present offices at the Elementary School.
School board member Nelson Lane volunteered to attend the Virginia School Board Association summer conference on July 20. Lane attended last year and says he hopes to bring back an informative report.
In the first school board meeting of the 1983-84 year, new board member Paul Nichols was absent, but Massie told the board and the audience that his absence was due to a commitment made prior to his school board appointment.
