Saying that reports in the Rappahannock News that he would address the subject at the July school board meeting were the result of a misunderstanding of his intention, he added that he did wish to explain where he stood on the report, but that he would like to schedule a special meeting with parents to do so.
“I owe it to this community to meet with an open agenda on this topic,” he said. “In doing this I will also offer myself as a target for any concerns that parents have.” Estabrook called on Booster Club president Nancy Schoppett and SPTA representative Barney O’Meara, both present at the meeting, to help provide a forum for this exchange.
Beverly Massie told those present that they should arrive at such a meeting with positive suggestions for Rappahannock schools. “Let’s not throw stones or cast aspersions on past history,” Massie said. “Let’s think about what will benefit the children of Rappahannock.”
Later, in response to a request from the audience, a meeting date of August 3 at 7:30 was set for this discussion.
