Dental Trailer
Operation of a dental trailer at the Elementary School has been delayed during discussions between health and zoning officials. While the Rappahannock School Board voted in April to allow the health department to park the trailer on school property, school superintendent Robert Estabrook reported Tuesday night that county ordinances prohibit the permanent parking of trailers and that the health department has asked the zoning board for an amendment excluding medical and dental facilities. Supervisor Estes added that Smoot should also consult an attorney on finding a civil remedy to his problem.

The board forwarded to the planning commission an application for a 2,376 acre Agricultural and Forestal District around Red Oak Mountain. The applicants include H. B. Wood Jr., H. L. Manwaring, mary R. Jamieson,Natalie Emery, Weldon Burke, Maurice O’Bannon, Clifton Clark and Lacy Orange.
Dental Trailer
A proposal for a zoning ordinance amendment that would permit a dental trailer at the county elementary school was also forwarded to the planning commission for consideration. The amendment suggested by Dr. John Einarson, district health department director, reads: “No portion or provision of this ordinance shall prohibit a governmental agency from parking a trailer on government property for the sole and express purpose of providing medical or dental services.”
At present, the ordinance allows trailers only in mobile home parks or by temporary permit from the board of zoning appeals while a residence is being constructed.
Einarson told the board that the U.S. Public health Service will use the trailer to provide reduced cost or free dental treatment to adults and children who meet income eligibility criteria.
