A New Building
Adding excitement to optimism are plans to begin building in April a new building for the Center, which now is located in a farmhouse off Rt. 211 on Rt. 626. The new site will be on Rt. 211, just outside of Washington. Barring fund-raising problems-always a threat-the new facility is tentatively scheduled for completion in September.
The proposed new building will allow the Center to accommodate more facilities and to expand its services. Possible new programs would target the needs of senior citizens, the handicapped, and people with mental disorders. Also hoped for is a program to tackle adult illiteracy.
In addition to the determination of Camille Harris, the Center owes its success to people like Linda Dietel. A volunteer at the Center for over a year and a half and the current Vice-President on the volunteer board of directors, Dietel apparently assumes any responsibility she can get her hands on. Aside from her leadership role on the Board, she is Chairman of both the Development Committee and the Building Committee.
