John J. Guthrie began his art career at the National Geographic Magazine. One of his ! earliest teachers was the noted Japanese water colorist Hashime Murayama.
John’s career at the National Geographic Magazine was temporarily interrupted by World War II.
After the war John returned to the art profession. In 1950 he established John Guthrie Studio, Washington, D C. For over three decades his paintings, illustrations and graphic designs have been commissioned by national and international clients, including:
