To bring drivers into the five-year system, the DMV will issue licenses good for three to seven years, depending on a driver’s age at renewal.
“During the next four years we’ll work people into the system when their current licenses expire,” Mr. Williams said, “and we’ll send them a brochure with their renewal notice explaining the new fees and expiration dates.”
