Slide Show Planned

The slide presentation scheduled for the Rappahannock County Library on Tuesday, February 12 at 7:30 p.m. might be entitled “Travels with Andy,” for Andrea Klopp will show pictures taken on her journeys in New Zealand, South Island and Alaska. Klopp will answer questions from the audience about subjects of interest.

“Splash”

“Splash” will be shown this Saturday and Sunday, January 26 and 27 at 7:30 at the Gay Street Theatre in Washington. Daryl Hannah stars in this romantic comedy-fantasy of a mermaid falling in love with a New Yorker. It’s rated PG.

Certified Nursing Assistant

Course Offered

With funding provided by the State Department of Education the Orange County Welfare Department is sponsoring a Certified Nursing Assistant Course free to residents of Culpeper, Rappahannock and Fauquier Counties.

The course consists of 96 hours of indepth classroom and clinical training and is certified by the state. It is offered to individuals 18 years of age and older, high school graduates or drop-outs having at least an eighth grade education and meet low-income criteria as set forth by the United States Department of Labor.

Although plans for the training site have not been finalized the course will be offered in the town of Warrenton in February. Those who are interested should call 672-5424 or write Geriatric Nursing Assistant Program, 190 Caroline Street, Orange, Va. 22960 on or before January 31.

CPR Class At Warren Memorial

A Heart Saver CPR class will be held on Wednesday, January 30 at 7:30 p.m. in the conference room at Warren Memorial Hospital. There is rio charge for the class but enrollment is limited to 15. Call 636-6101, extension 110 or 152 to sign up.

Diet Watchers Class To Begin

A new Diet Watchers class will begin on Saturday, January 26 at the Washington Baptist Church. Weighing will begin at 8:30 and classes at 9 a.m. Classes will be held each Saturday morning under the direction of Joyce Wharton of Sperryville. For additional information or registration call 987-8924.

Timber Tax Workshop

Four Timber Tax Workshops will be held across the commonwealth beginning January 29.

Sponsored by the Virginia Cooperative Extension Service and other state and federal agencies and organizations, the workshops are designed to provide landowners and forestry professionals with information on the tax aspects of timber management.

The workshops will be held in Fredericksburg, Charlottesville, Farmville and Chesterfield. For more information on specific dates and location, contact the Extension Office at 675-3619.

Forage Conference To Be Held

The 1985 northern area Forage Conference will be held on Tuesday, February 19 at the Chancellor Ruritan Club building on Route 3, six miles west of Fredericksburg. The conference is sponsored by the Virginia Cooperative Extension Service. For more information contact Birgitt Thornhill at 675-3619.

Ice Capades Trip

A trip by chartered bus to the Ice Capades on Saturday, February 23 is being sponsored by Fauquier County Parks and Recreation. From front row seats see Scott Hamilton, Elaine Zayak, Kitty and Peter Carruthers perform along with the rest of the magnificent 1985 Ice Capades performers. The bus will leave Fauquier High School at 2 p.m. and will return to Fauquier High at approximately 9 p.m. Space is limited so register soon at the Parks and Recreation Office, 14 Main Street, Warrenton.
