Hospitalization Program if you are confined to a hospital. Contact a hospital social worker who will notify us and we will defer collection action until you have returned home and recuperated physically and financially.
Life Support Equipment Electric Service will be maintained for you or if someone in your household is seriously ill or relies on life support equipment. Contact us so we can note it on our records. Incidentally, during power outages, customers on life support equipment are given top priority for restoration of service.
In addition, there are energy assistance programs available through community organizations or local governmental agencies.
Energy Assistance Programs may help you pay your winter heating bills. How much assistance you qualify for depends on your heating fuel and annual income.
Emergency Energy Assistance Grants are available. If you receive a turn-off notice after obtaining your first energy assistance grant, reapply for an emergency grant.
Weatherization Assistance, depending on total household income, is free for such items as attic insulation, storm windows, caulking and weatherstripping.
If you (or someone you know) can’t personally seek outside aid because of age or health, our customer assistance representative will visit a customer in this predicament at home and then may contact various support agencies to arrange for assistance.
