Jeffrey Lee Fincham last appeared in Circuit Court on November 12, a week after he had escaped from the Rappahannock County Jail. During that court appearance, Fincham decided to change his plea of guilty to not guilty of the charge of breaking and entering. In the intervening months, Fincham decided to plead guilty again, but changed his mind during Circuit Court on Thursday, January 17.
Fincham’s lawyer, Doug Baumgardner, advised the court of Fincham’s decision to change his plea to not guilty, and then Baumgardner withdrew from the case. Commonwealth’s Attorney Peter Luke said that Fincham “has flip-flopped in this case, changing his plea three times, but if he wants a jury trial then that’s fine.”
