In making his decision to vote against the Fryes’ application, BZA chairperson Lee Bird said, “This is a very difficult case because the use proposed is minimal and the neighborhood in which it would be located — at least on one side — has already got some commercial activity. There are pros and cons here, very nearly balanced.”
“It has been a close question and one that has given us a lot of difficulty,” Mr. Bird added.
BZA member Greg Monahan also had difficulty weighing the pros and cons before voting on the application. “One of the big things on the positive side is the high level of character of the applicant,” he said. “I knpw the lot will look as well as it can look — he ‘Dwight Frye’ keeps his place very clean.”
