Elijah M. Tharp
Elijah Middleton (Pate) Tharp, Jr., 75, of Castleton, died Sunday, December 22,1985, at Culpeper Memorial Hospital.
A native of Rappahannock County, he was an equipment operator for the Virginia Department of Highways for 33 years. He was a member of the Massonova Pentecostal Church.
He is survived by six sons, Thomas J. Tharp of Edinburg, Charlie J. Tharp and Harvey P. Tharp, both of Culpeper, John E. Tharp, William E. Tharp and James R. Tharp, all of Castleton, four daughters, Rosie V. Wharton of Sperryville, Gladys M. Williams of Culpeper, Mary A. Tharp of Castleton and Frances T. Homer of Rhodesville, 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted December 24 at the Geest-Johnson Funeral Home in Culpeper by the Rev. L. D. Savage. Biirial was in the Forest Grove Churcn Cemetery at Viewtown.
Pallbearers were Tony Tharp, Mark Tharp, Glenn Tharp, Freddie Tharp, Jeff Tharp, Michael Williams and Darren Tharp.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Massanova Pentecostal Church building fund.
