Charging ‘little or no support front the Board of Supervisors,” Building Inspector Emiel Smet has resigned, effective May 1.
The announcement came at Monday’s board meeting following a two-hour executive session for consideration of employment, use of real property where the investing of public funds is involved and consultation with legal counsel.
According to administrative assistant John McCarthy, the board agreed during the executive session to advertise the job vacancy and interview candidates for the position at a special meeting on March 30.
Mr. Smet’s resignation cam* on the heels of the board’s refusal to advertise for public hearing an ordinance requiring certification and licensing for plumbing, mechanical and electrical contractors.
