‘Artists and Friends9 at Middle St. The opening of the “Gallery Artists and Friends” show is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, from 5 to 10 at the Middle Street Gallery. The show is a survey of work from Loe Angeles to New York, from Chile to Moscow and points in between. It will also include the premiere showing of photographs by Russian Edik Gladkov who was former official photographer for Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn.

' Literacy Volunteers to meet The Rappahannock Literacy Volunteers will hold a planning session on Friday, March 6, at 9 a.m. at the Child Care and Learning Center, Rt. 211, Washington. Local volunteers seek to reduce the county’s 20 percent illiteracy rate (U. S. Census Bureau Statistics) by tutoring all Rappahannock residents desiring to improve their ability to read and write. Washington Business Council meets The Washington Business Council will meet today, March 6, at 6:16 p.m. at Heritage House, the home of Jim and Nan Thomasson.
