Twelve Wakefield School students will represent the Virginia Congressional delegation at the Harvard Model Congress to be held in Boston, Mass., from March 6-10. Delegations of high school students firom all 60 states will attend this congress organized yearly by the Government Department of Harvard University.
A unique feature of the Harvard Model Congress is that student delegates represent actual Congressmen and are given the same committee assignments as those Congressmen.
Several months before the congress, students were sept,position papers and briefings prepared by Harvard undergraduates, .jo advance of the opening conference the student delegates must then prepare their own position papers of their Congressmen on the issues before their committees.
In addition, students are expected to come to their committees with working bills, and must, before arrival, master the Congressional rules of procedure, including the table of motions.
