Cloverbud camp planned

4-H Camp Cloverbud, to be held Aug. 5-6 at the 4-H Center near Front Royal, is designed to introduce 6, 7 and 8-year-olds who have not been to camp before to the overnight camping experience. The cost is $25. Registration information can be obtained by contacting the Rappahannock Extension Office at 675-3619.

Grafters wanted for festival

The Sperryville Fire Department and Sperryville Rescue Squad will hold their first craft festival Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 20 and 21, at the Fire Department on Rt. 211W. All crafters are welcome. To reserve booth space, or for more information, call 987-8170.

Quaker meeting

There is an hour of silent worship on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Middle Street Gallery.

Wilson family reunion

The reunion of the families of the late Thurman and Julia Thorne Wilson will be held Sunday, July 3, at Rappahannock Park, Rt. 211, near Washington. All relatives and friends are invited. Lunch will be served at noon.

Lions take stand for Fourth

Again this Fourth of July, the Rappahannock Lions Club will have a stand on the streets of Washington. A first for the club will be the sale of light bulbs hand-packed by blind workers. Your purchase of these light bulbs will help provide funds for the local Lions Club’s use in sight conservation and other community service activities. Sale dates are July 4 to Oct. 31, and the club invites you to buy your light bulbs from a Lion. A receptacle will be provided at the booth on July 4th for deposit of used eye-glasses and used hearing aids, which will be recycled for use in the Lions sight and hearing projects. Another first will be the sale of Funnel Cakes - a light and delicate snack food. A new broom sweeps clean — Yes, brooms will also be available as will cold watermelon slices and cider.
