Roger Woodard
Roger Lee Woodard, 42, of Winchester, died June 25 in the Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Woodard was bom June 14, 1946, in Rappahannock County, the son of Lewis A. Woodard of Front Royal and Gladys Grubb of Middletown. He was a delivery truck driver for Swimley’s Furniture Company.
He was a member of the Chester Gap Baptist Church and the Berryville Moose Lodge, and was the coach of the Frederick County Royals baseball team of the Apple Valley League.
Surviving with his parents are his fiancee Virginia Meadows, Winchester, a son Garland Meadows, Winchester, a brother Charles Woodard, Front Royal, two sisters, Mildred Jenkins, Sperryville, and Judy Stokes, Front Royal, his paternal grandmother Bessie Sisk, Sperryville, and maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Cletus Prince, Amiss ville.
His funeral was conducted June 29 at Chester Gap Baptist Church by the Rev. James W. Burke. Burial was in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Butch Sealock, Michael Lloyd, Ross Knee, Walter (Skeeter) Knee, Todd Clemons and Gary Snapp.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Frederick County Royals baseball team.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Berryville Moose " Lodge-Mooseheart Fund.
Gabe Elliott
Gabe Elliott, 78, of Culpeper, died June 25 at Culpeper Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Rappahannock County and had lived in Culpeper for a number of years. He was a retired farmer.
His parents were the late William and Ada Lillard Elliott.
Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Helen Snyder, Mrs. Ernest Thornhill and Mrs. Grace Hicks, three brothers, Gid Elliott, Brew Elliott and John Elliott, all of Culpeper, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were conducted June 28 at Fairview Cemetery by the Rev. John S. Farrar.
