Trinity Church plans its annual triple play: ham biscuits and other Holy Chow, local luminaries scooping Angel Dips of ice cream, and tarnished treasures and other flea market items in the Resurrection Section.
There will be music in the air all afternoon, with country, gospel, chamber and bluegrass groups scheduled to appear at different places around the town.
There's always been an emphasis on children on Independence Day, from fireworks to taffy pulls. There won’t be any taffy in Washington, but there will be pony and cart rides, a “Moonwalk" and the aforementioned movies. And there’s plenty of green grass on the hillsides around Avon Hall for any little ones who need some room to run.
Beginning around dinnertime, part of the evening program at Avon Hall will be dedicated to the children. Organized by Child Care and Learning Center Director Carrie Anabo. there will be a tug-of-war, relay races, games and other events for the kids.
Since it is dinnertime. Mr. Carrigan suggests that families pack a picnic basket before setting out for Avon Hall for the evening entertainment. Or, if no one feels like cooking, there's plenty of barbecue at the fire department’s stand just up the hill.
