County continues monitoring
The county will not take any action toward the infestation this year, County Administrator John McCarthy said this week. “We will continue our monitoring program, and surveys of egg masses.”
The Board of Supervisors, Mr. McCarthy said, “made it very clear that our information collection is not to a point yet where we can make informed decisions” about spraying or other control measures.
Judging from the “hue and cry” raised by Wakefield and Hampton district landowners over proposals by their neighbors to contract with private aerial spraying companies, Mr. McCarthy added, the county is reluctant to embark on that program
