Republican primary June 13 ; Virginians will cast their ballots next I Tuesday for the Republican nominee for ; governor. The polls will be open from 6 ! a.m. to 7 p.m. at all six of the county's [ precincts. The only contest on the ballot is ; the gubernatorial race, between former I U.S. Senator Paul S. Trible, former Virginia ; Attorney General J. Marshall Coleman and Congressman Stan Parris. Since Virginia has no party registration, anyone, I*, regardless of their political affiliation, may vote in the election. The winner will face the Democratic nominee, expected to be Lt. Gov. Douglas Wilder, who will be selected by his party's nominating convention this weekend in Richmond.
Mrs. Clatterbuck to visit
Congressman D. French Slaughter Jr.'s district representative, Jane Clatterbuck, will visit Rappahannock County on Wednesday, June 14. Mrs. Clatterbuck will be at the courthouse in Washington from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Residents are invited to come and talk with her about any matters presently under consideration by the U.S. Congress. Constituents may also contact Mrs. Clatterbuck at Rep. Slaughter's Culpeper district office (825-3495). The office is located at 110 S. West St.
Open house at 4-H Center
The Northern Virginia 4-H Center, in Harmony Hollow outside Front Royal, will celebrate the official opening of its new 49,000 square-foot conference center on Sunday, June 11 at 3 p.m. Dr. Andrew Fogarty, an advisor to Gov. Gerald L. „ Baliles, will be the guest speaker. The public is invited to attend the opening ceremony and ribbon cutting, which will be followed by a reception and guided tours of the $3.6 million facility.
