We wish her well

This month, Home Extension Agent Sandra Richardson will leave Rappahannock County to return to her home in Virginia Beach.

Mrs. Richardson will be missed by the county’s residents, particularly those she assisted through the Virginia Extension Service programs she coordinated. The Homemakers’ Clubs and the county’s 4—H kids will certainly miss her leadership.

We at the Rappahan nock News will also miss her, both for her ready help in any number of situations, as w^ell as the weekly column on cooking which she wrote. That column is evidently one of the most popular features in the paper, judging from the reaction we get those few^ times when, for lack of space, the column didn’t run.

But Mrs. Richardson was active outside the Extension office as wrell. Many people aren’t aware of her service with the Washington Volunteer Fire Department, where she donated her time as an Emergency Medical Technician.

And her activities with the Extension Service frequently took her outside the office, as w?ell as far beyond normal office hours. Mrs. Richardson could often be found at a variety of 4—H activities, including a w eek at summer camp, the Culpeper-Madison-Rappahannock Farm Show, and the State Fair in Richmond. Most took time from her weekends, and her family, as well as her hours at the office.

In the three-plus years that Mrs. Richardson served as the county’s Home Extension Agent, she was part of a team at the Extension office which constantly sought to improve on the quality and variety of the programs offered to the county’s residents through the Virginia Extension Office.

We wish her nothing but the best as she takes up her new post with the Extension Service at her home in Virginia Beach.
