In the Horticulture Division, Mary Marocchi was awarded blue ribbons for her Bleeding Heart and for her pink Coral Bells. Martha Sutherland won blue ribbons for not only her red Coral Bells, but also for a white specimen. Dee Hume captured a blue ribbon with her Columbine, with “Best of Show” for the Horticulture Division awarded to Dee Hume.
The show was judged by Honeylou Funkhouser from Warrenton; Fran Hammer of Luray and Zelia Lawson of Quimque.
After a brief talk on the history of the Rappahannock County Garden Club by Helen Holschuh, members Dot Estes and Elizabeth Johnson were honored for their 40 years of service to the club and, as charter members, they reminisced of the way it was those many years ago.
Jim White spoke to the membership of the initial laying out of the gardens at Whitcairn Farm and of the problems in attempting to duplicate the Powell-Waller 0Garden in Williamsburg. This was followed by a slide and casette program on the “Flower Arrangements of Colonial Williamsburg.”
