Next Tuesday, the state’s Republican party will select its candidate for the governor’s race.
Though the race between former Senator Paul Trible, former Attorney General Marshall Coleman and Congressman Stan Parris has hardly been electrifying, we hope that the county’s residents will take advantage of the opportunity to have a say in who runs against the presumptive Democratic candidate, Lt. Gov. Doug Wilder.
We’re not going to take a stand among the three candidates, but we urge our readers — at least those who support the Republican Party — to vote for the man they feel will best represent their interests in the general election in November.
The polls will be open from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the following places: Jackson District, Amissville VFD; Hampton District, county courthouse; Piedmont District, Sperryville VFD; Wakefield District, Chester Gap VFD and Flint Hill VFD; and Stonewall-Hawthorn District, Mt. Salem Baptist Church.
