“We talked about this earlier during the budget season,” Hampton District representative Mike Massie said. He told the group that he resented their bringing it up again “at this itme. I would like to pay 100 percent for all employees. We’re giving the county employees $300 more than the school board employes.”
“How much of a raise did you give the school teachers?” Sheriff Woodward asked.
“All of you, except Mrs. Ralph, make more money than school teachers,” Mr. Massie replied. “I would be willing to give the same percentage as school employees; we’ve been giving the county employees a higher percentage.”
Earlier the supervisors had approved the secondary road budget. Resident Engineer Robert Moore said the budget reflected feelings expressed at the public hearing. “Route 681 was pulled from the budget this year. You can decide when you revise the six-year plan,” he said. SeveSee
